According to the suspicion, he transported three illegal residents in his vehicle, struck them with the vehicle, caused the death of one, and fled. The hit-and-run occurred on July 5, 2026, when a report was received about a vehicle that struck three residents of the territories who were in Israel illegally. One of them was critically injured and pronounced dead at the scene; two others were moderately injured and evacuated to Soroka. On July 7, 2026, after a manhunt, the suspect was arrested while hiding in Be'er Sheva, and the vehicle was found concealed under a water conduit. The Southern District Attorney's Office filed a prosecutor's statement toward an indictment attributing murder and additional offenses to the suspect, along with a request for his detention until the end of proceedings. The commander of the Rotem District Police, Deputy Chief Superintendent Dudu Avraham, noted that the investigation was conducted with determination, professionalism, and speed, leading to the location of the suspect and the formation of a significant evidentiary foundation.
