Smotrich against the Peace Council's plan for Gaza: 'A dangerous document that requires operational steps'

Ministers Bezalel Smotrich and Orit Strock appealed today (Monday) to the Prime Minister against Trump's Peace Council agreement. In their letter, they wrote that it is a document dangerous to Israel, whose existence, as long as it is not corrected, requires immediate operational steps to protect Israel from it. They argued that the 15-point 'roadmap' document published by the Peace Council over the weekend completely contradicts both the central goal of disarming Hamas, demilitarizing Gaza, and removing any threat from it to Israel, and the explicit promises of the United States to Israel on this matter. The two also referred in their letter to the multinational force (ISF) that will enter Gaza. They claimed that in complete contrast to what was told to them in the cabinet, that the force will operate on the red side of the Gaza Strip, will participate in weapons collection, and that 'it is not yet known what additional roles and missions it will perform', and contrary to what was promised to Israel by the United States, that the force will operate to demilitarize the Strip, disarm Hamas, destroy weapons and tunnels, confiscate terror funds, and prevent threats to Israel - according to the new roadmap, it will supervise us, separate between us and Hamas, and restrict IDF activity in the Strip. The ministers called on Israel to refuse to accept the roadmap until corrections are made to it. On the immediate operational level, they demand to cancel the cabinet decision made regarding the ISF force, since it was made on the basis of incorrect information. They call for a corrective cabinet decision that will prevent the entry of the force into the Strip until a clear and explicit correction of its purpose, legal subordination, and missions.
