Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu released a video on his X account today (Tuesday) in which he thanked Colombian President Gustavo Petro for agreeing last night to recognize Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights. In the video, Netanyahu is seen walking toward a map, pointing at the Sea of Galilee, the Golan Heights, Syria, and Lebanon, and explaining why the area is vital to Israel's security. He quoted the phrase "the people are with the Golan" and turned it into "the people are with Colombia," concluding that Trump's recognition was a first step and Colombia's recognition is a second step. Throughout the video, Netanyahu did not mention once the deadly earthquake that struck Colombia last night, magnitude 7.4, which killed 111 people, injured 87, and caused dozens of buildings to collapse. The earthquake hit the west of the country, in the town of San José del Palmar in the Chocó department, and caused heavy damage in the cities of Cali, Armenia, Pereira, and Manizales. In Pereira, dozens were killed and others were trapped under rubble.
