Six arrested after allegedly spitting, throwing rocks at Armenian church in Jerusalem's Old City

Six suspects were arrested after allegedly throwing rocks and spitting at the Armenian Cathedral of St. James in Jerusalem's Old City. Police said five are minors and one adult. An Armenian reporter said rocks were also thrown at a woman filming, and the Armenian Patriarchate filed a complaint. Three suspects were released with restrictions, three brought to court.

Israel Police announced on Sunday the arrest of six suspects accused of throwing rocks and spitting at the Armenian Cathedral of St. James in Jerusalem's Old City. According to police, five of the suspects are minors and one is an adult. An Armenian reporter, Kegham Balian, reported that the suspects also threw rocks at the window of an Armenian woman filming the event while shouting insults. The Armenian Patriarchate filed a formal complaint. Three suspects were released under restrictive conditions, including a 15-day ban from the Old City, while the other three were brought to the Magistrate Court, where police requested an extension of their detention.
