Israeli occupation army minister Israel Katz admitted that his extremist government approved the establishment of 104 settlements and 160 settlement outposts in the occupied West Bank since its formation in November 2022. The Hebrew Channel 7 quoted Katz as saying during a meeting with Likud party leaders on Friday that the government had taken a series of important decisions regarding settlement expansion, adding that they are not only enhancing security but also strengthening settlement. Katz described this as an unprecedented step reflecting the commitment to strengthen Israel's control over the area. The West Bank is witnessing an escalation in the establishment of outposts, which are nuclei for settlements that are later legalized. Peace Now movement indicates there are currently 141 settlements and 360 outposts, in addition to 15 settlements in East Jerusalem. The UN Security Council in its resolution 2334 affirms that settlements have no legal validity and constitute a flagrant violation of international law.
