Officers from the Ashdod police station opened an investigation last night (Wednesday) following a report of suspected gunfire at a wedding hall in the city. No injuries were reported. Police officers along with forensic investigators arrived at the scene and began collecting evidence in order to locate suspects. According to police spokespersons, the background of the incident is criminal and its circumstances are being investigated. This is not the first such incident in the area: about two years ago, four people were injured in a shooting at the 'Troy' wedding hall in the Bnei Darom industrial zone, including a police officer who was seriously injured. The background then was a conflict between criminals over 'the underworld's battle for Ashdod'. Additionally, about a month ago, a report of gunfire at a wedding in Tayibe led to the arrest of two suspects.
