Short distance from the border with Israel: Syrian regime exposes ISIS cell

Syria's Interior Ministry announced the arrest of a seven-member ISIS cell in Khan Arnabah, Quneitra, near the Israeli border. Among those detained is the cell's commander, Musaab Khalil al-Sheikh, who previously operated in Damascus and Hauran and was linked to a cell of a senior ISIS figure killed in 2022. The operation was carried out in cooperation with the General Intelligence Service.

Syria's Interior Ministry announced the arrest of a seven-member ISIS cell in the town of Khan Arnabah in the Quneitra area, near the border with Israel. The arrest was carried out in cooperation between the Interior Ministry and the General Intelligence Service, as part of efforts to pursue the organization's cells and confiscate its sources of income. Among those detained is the cell's commander, Musaab Khalil al-Sheikh, nicknamed "the Chinese," who was active in ISIS in the Damascus and Hauran areas. It was also reported that al-Sheikh previously operated in one of the cells identified with Abd al-Rahman al-Iraqi, a senior ISIS figure who was killed in the Daraa area in 2022. In recent months, Syrian security agencies have reported a series of operations against armed infrastructures and weapons smuggling. In July, Syria's Interior Ministry announced it had foiled an attempt to smuggle a large weapons shipment across the border with Iraq, which reportedly included missiles, explosives, and about 150 explosive drones intended for Hezbollah in Lebanon.
