Police announced today (Sunday) the closure of a butcher shop in the city of Rahat for 15 days, following a shooting incident that occurred at the location earlier this month. The shooting took place over the past weekend, during which gunmen fired into the butcher shop, and the manager, an illegal resident, was moderately injured. The background is a clan dispute in the city that has been ongoing for some time. The Rahat police station commander, Superintendent Yona Yitzhak, signed an administrative closure order for the business, on the recommendation of professional factors and in cooperation with the legal counsel's office of the Southern District. The shooting joins a series of violent incidents on the background of family disputes in Rahat. In March, large forces raided residential compounds in the city following cases of murder and violence, and arrested 13 suspects. In May, hundreds of police officers raided Rahat following the murder of a local young man, in order to prevent escalation.
