Shooting at US burger restaurant: two killed, armed civilian returns fire | Footage

Two people were killed and seven others wounded, two of them seriously, in a deadly shooting that occurred last night (between Saturday and Sunday) in Idaho, United States. Dramatic footage of the shooting near the In-N-Out burger restaurant in Twin Falls shows an armed civilian firing his pistol at the attacker, who was armed with a long rifle, and the two exchanging fire outside the restaurant—while diners and employees fled the scene crying and screaming. The shooter, 24-year-old Chad Williams, was later found dead near the scene, and according to police, he took his own life with a gunshot. The motive for the act has not yet been published. The shooting began around 2:30 p.m. local time in a busy commercial area. Hundreds of people were at the restaurant, in the parking lot, and in nearby businesses at the time. Twin Falls Police Chief Matthew Hicks described the scene as "extremely chaotic" and announced that after the suspect's body was found, there was no longer a threat to the public. An eyewitness, 34-year-old Lane Cone, said that the armed civilian's intervention may have distracted the shooter—giving employees and customers time to flee. Customers at the restaurant described moments of terror. The branch where the shooting occurred had opened only about a week earlier, on July 24, as part of the chain's expansion into Idaho. In-N-Out owner Lynsi Snyder announced that one of the restaurant's employees was killed. Police continue to interview witnesses and collect footage from the area. The FBI has also joined the investigation.
