Shikli: "I've met scammers in my life - but none of them come close to Bennett's ankles"

Shikli revealed new details about a personal meeting between him and Bennett on the eve of the formation of the change government, claiming that Bennett lost his temper, raged, and almost cried when Shikli refused to return his mandate.

Diaspora Affairs and Combating Antisemitism Minister from Likud, Amichai Shikli, harshly attacked today (Sunday) Yashar party chairman Naftali Bennett in a post published on his X account. Shikli called Bennett "the Madoff of Israeli politics" and claimed that "I've met liars and scammers in my life... but none of them come close to Bennett's ankles." The remarks came in response to an interview Bennett gave to Dana Weiss on Channel 12 News, in which Bennett "revealed" the content of their private conversation. Shikli revealed new details about a personal meeting between him and Bennett on May 5, 2021, on the eve of the publication of his letter against the formation of the change government. According to Shikli, Bennett lost his temper, raged, and almost cried when Shikli refused to return his mandate. Shikli claimed that Bennett offered him a position as ambassador or head of the Jewish Agency in exchange for resigning from the Knesset. Shikli further claimed that Bennett briefed journalist Yair Sherki that the coalition with Ra'am was off the table due to the security situation, a message that was also conveyed to him. Shikli, who entered the Knesset on the "Yamina" list and left it over the decision to form a government with the left and Ra'am, published these remarks as part of a Likud political conference in Petah Tikva.
