Shas faction chairman MK Yinon Azoulay stated in an interview on 103fm that the party is advancing a conscription law that will regulate the status of Torah scholars, but those who do not study Torah will enlist in the army. Azoulay addressed the protests by the Jerusalem faction against him, and recounted that his son was beaten by the protesters. He emphasized that the protest itself proves the law is real.

Shas faction chairman MK Yinon Azoulay was interviewed on the "Mishal and Shahar" program on 103fm and declared that Shas is advancing a "real" conscription law that will regulate the status of Torah scholars, but stipulates that those who do not study Torah will enlist in the army. Azoulay addressed the protests by the Jerusalem faction against party leaders, and recounted that demonstrations also took place outside his home, during which his son was beaten by the protesters. According to him, the protest itself proves the law is real, since the faction would not protest a law that does not mandate enlistment. Azoulay added that the IDF must operate tracks that will allow Haredi recruits to maintain their way of life, using the slogan "let a Haredi enter and a Haredi leave." In response to criticism about core curriculum studies, Azoulay invited critics to visit the Midreshet Bnei Yosef, where he said mathematics and English are taught. The interview took place against the backdrop of the elections for the 26th Knesset.
