Settlement tender for 627 new units in Ramallah
The so-called "Israel Land Authority" has issued a settlement tender for the construction of 627 new housing units in the settlement of "Kochav Yaakov," built on lands of the Ramallah and al-Bireh governorate. The tender was published on August 6, after about 15 months since the occupation authorities approved the project's outline plan on April 27 of last year, and it extends over an area estimated at about 253.7 dunams. It comes within a wave of settlement tenders monitored during the first half of the year, which included more than 12 tenders comprising 1,138 settlement units.

The new expansion is part of a policy aimed at strengthening settlement blocs and connecting them to road networks and infrastructure, imposing restrictions on geographic contiguity between Palestinian communities. The tender is part of a wave of settlement tenders monitored during the first half of this year, which included more than 12 tenders comprising 1,138 settlement units ready for direct implementation, distributed among settlements including "Ariel" with 342 units, "Ma'ale Adumim" with 581 units, "Immanuel" with 21 units, and "Ganei Modi'in" with 194 units. The settlement expansion raises wide-ranging repercussions on Palestinian lands, as new areas are confiscated and converted into construction projects, limiting the ability of Palestinian communities to expand naturally.
