In recent weeks, Israeli and Emirati officials held a series of secret meetings in a third country (undisclosed) aimed at coordinating positions on Iran and discussing joint steps in international forums, with any moves to be implemented in coordination with the United States. According to Israel's Channel 12, Emirati officials expressed strong opposition to the memorandum of understanding between Washington and Tehran, considering it gives Iran an opportunity to stall and recover economically without concessions. The two sides also discussed initiatives to coordinate actions against Iran in international frameworks, but agreed not to take any steps without prior coordination with the Trump administration. The channel quoted Western diplomats saying the UAE deals strictly with Iran and does not see its current policies as a basis for overcoming differences. The report noted that the UAE's ability to export oil and gas via alternative routes to the Strait of Hormuz enhances the convergence of interests between it and Israel in confronting Iran. Since the signing of the normalization agreement in 2020, relations between the two sides have expanded into security and military fields, strengthened against the backdrop of the recent Israeli-American war on Iran.
