Cybersecurity company Pentera announced today (Monday) to its employees an additional round of layoffs of about 60 employees, joining the 40 employees already laid off last April. Together, this is about 20% of the 470 employees the company had. About 30 of the layoffs in the current round are from Israel, in addition to the 20 laid off from Israel in the previous round. The reduction will be across the board, including from the R&D team, but the company will continue to hire employees with relevant experience in AI. The layoffs come against the backdrop of a shift in the company's priorities in recent months, focusing on AI-based solutions for cybersecurity testing. In March 2025, Pentera raised about $60 million in a Series D round, bringing total capital raised to about $250 million, and crossed the $100 million mark in annual revenue. The company made two strategic acquisitions - DevOcean and EVA Information Security - and opened offices in Colorado, Madrid, the United Arab Emirates, Singapore, Germany, Denver, and Boston. The company stated that it is preparing for rapid market changes amid the dramatic growth in AI capabilities and is completing its transformation to being AI Native. The company is forced to part with employees who contributed greatly in order to meet goals and continue to grow.
