Schedule changes: everything you need to know about trains on Yom Kippur eve
Israel Railways has published the special timetable for Yom Kippur eve 5787. On the eve of the holiday, Sunday, passenger trains will operate at increased frequency until 1:00 PM only, in a format similar to Fridays with additions. The frequency of the Haifa-Tel Aviv line will double to two trains per hour, and a dedicated line will operate from Hadera East to Rosh HaAyin North. At the end of the fast, Monday, no trains will operate; service will resume fully on Tuesday.
Israel Railways has published its preparations for Yom Kippur 5787, including changes to timetables on the eve of the holiday and at the end of the fast. On Yom Kippur eve, Sunday, train service will operate in a dedicated and enhanced format until 1:00 PM only, in order to address expected congestion. The system will be based on Friday timetables but will include additions: the frequency of trains on the Haifa-Tel Aviv line will double compared to a regular Friday eve and will stand at two trains per hour. In addition, a dedicated train service will operate on the Hadera East-Rosh HaAyin North line. At the end of Yom Kippur, Monday, no trains will operate at all. Train service across the country will resume fully only on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, with night trains between Monday and Tuesday returning to regular operation.
