Sam Spiegel Film Lab to take part in Venice Film Festival, will present 10 projects

The Sam Spiegel International Film Lab has been selected to participate in the 83rd Venice International Film Festival, where it will present 10 feature-film projects in development from Israel and around the world. The lab's main event will take place on September 7 at the Hotel Excelsior on Venice's Lido, as part of the Venice Production Bridge, the festival's industry platform connecting filmmakers with production companies, financiers, and streaming platforms. The 10 projects come from Austria, Brazil, Germany, Hungary, and Israel. Production prizes totaling $70,000, provided by the Beracha Foundation, will be awarded to outstanding projects. The lab, run by the Sam Spiegel Film and Television School in Jerusalem, develops feature films by emerging filmmakers globally. Its alumni include László Nemes, director of the Oscar-winning Son of Saul. This year, Tell Me Everything by lab graduate Moshe Rosenthal leads the Ophir Award nominations with a record 16 nods. Dana Blankstein Cohen, CEO of the school, said the lab's presence at Venice for the second year testifies to the connecting power of international creation and its commitment to intercultural dialogue and artistic freedom.
