The head of the Supreme Islamic Authority and preacher of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, Sheikh Ikrima Sabri, called on Wednesday for intensifying presence and continuous i'tikaf in the Al-Aqsa Mosque, aiming to foil settlers' plans to impose hegemony and sovereignty over it. In a press statement, Sabri affirmed that every action taken by settlers against the mosque aims at hegemony and imposing sovereignty, stressing that the occupation and its settlers exploit religious occasions to impose unprecedented practices. He added that the occupation violates the sanctity of Al-Aqsa and aims to make things difficult for Muslims and weaken their connection to the mosque. In the same context, dozens of settlers stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque this morning under the protection of occupation forces, performing Talmudic rituals and Torah prayers in its courtyards. Local sources reported that 141 settlers stormed the mosque during the morning incursions via the Mughrabi Gate, holding a Judaizing Torah religious circle inside the courtyards.
