Sa'ar Sets Condition for Lasting De-escalation in the Middle East

In an interview with BILD, Gideon Sa'ar stated that Iran will not obtain nuclear weapons and vowed to take any measures, including military ones, to prevent this. He named Tehran's complete abandonment of nuclear development as a condition for lasting de-escalation, positively assessed Trump's role, but accused Iran of violating agreements and suggested a power shift to the IRGC.

Israel's Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar, in an interview with the German publication BILD, stated that Iran must not obtain nuclear weapons and vowed to take any measures, including new military actions, to prevent this. He emphasized that this is a vital issue for Israel with no room for compromise. Sa'ar noted that the current conflict cannot be considered resolved, as the Iranian nuclear program continues to exist and the goals of Iran's leadership have not changed. Lasting de-escalation in the Middle East, he said, is possible only with Tehran's complete and final renunciation of nuclear development. The minister positively assessed the role of US President Donald Trump in countering Iran's nuclear program, but clarified that Israel was not a party to the framework agreement between the US and Iran, and accused the Iranian side of regularly violating agreements. Regarding the internal situation in Iran, Sa'ar suggested that power has shifted to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, closely linked to Mojtaba Khamenei, and called it strange that the new Iranian ruler has not yet appeared publicly.
