Russia prepares a 'terrible' scenario for Europe - who is in danger

Moscow is likely preparing provocations in Europe under a 'false flag' scenario to provoke a split within NATO and weaken support for Ukraine. This warning was issued by representatives of Poland and the Baltic states, including Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. This is stated in a Daily Express article. Lithuanian Defense Minister Robertas Kaunas said that a potential operation could involve the use of a drone that would be passed off as Ukrainian. According to him, such a provocation could be aimed at creating the impression among European states that the threat comes from Ukraine. 'One of the goals is to weaken NATO and reduce the Alliance's presence in Ukraine. However, this will not happen,' the head of the Lithuanian defense ministry said. Back in July, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda warned of possible Russian strikes on the country's critical infrastructure. In Moscow, such statements have traditionally been rejected, calling them attempts to intimidate the population. Additional concerns were raised by an incident in Germany: this week, at Leipzig airport, the runway was temporarily restricted after an explosive substance and a detonator were found on board a Ukrainian aircraft. German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt said that the nature of the incident does not allow it to be considered an ordinary amateur incident. According to him, law enforcement agencies are examining the version of a professional hybrid operation. Against this backdrop, The Wall Street Journal, citing US intelligence, wrote that Moscow may be considering various options for pressuring NATO countries. According to US analysts, the Kremlin could try to expand the conflict to the European direction if the war against Ukraine reaches a stalemate. At the same time, the scenario of a direct attack on a NATO country is still assessed as unlikely.
