Russia commits crimes against sports in Ukraine - Ambassador Korniychuk

Ukraine's Ambassador to Israel, Yevgen Korniychuk, met with Israel's Minister of Sports Miki Zohar, stating Russia's crimes against Ukrainian sports: over 660 athletes and coaches killed, more than 852 sports facilities destroyed. Korniychuk expressed outrage at the admission of Russian athletes to international competitions and called for a ban on displaying Russian state symbols. Zohar expressed solidarity and announced a visit to Ukraine.

Ukraine's Ambassador to Israel, Yevgen Korniychuk, met with Israel's Minister of Culture and Sports Miki Zohar on July 28. During the meeting, Korniychuk stated Russia's crimes against Ukrainian sports: as a result of Russian aggression, over 660 Ukrainian athletes and coaches have been killed, and more than 852 sports facilities have been destroyed, including over 20 Olympic, Paralympic, and Deaflympic training centers. The ambassador expressed outrage at decisions by international organizations allowing athletes from the aggressor country to compete and called on the Israeli government to prevent the display of Russian state symbols on its territory. Zohar expressed solidarity with the Ukrainian people, noting that Israel and Ukraine are on the same side of a civilizational confrontation, and announced plans to visit Ukraine this year. The sides agreed to continue dialogue and develop cooperation.
