Ronen Tzur Reveals What Happened Behind the Scenes and Declares: 'I Don't Believe Nimrod Shefer'

Tzur said he does not believe Shefer's apology, and criticized Democratic Party chairman Yair Golan for not backing him.

Veteran media consultant Ronen Tzur was interviewed on Guy Peleg's podcast and revealed the sequence of events in the fake text messages affair, about a month after it was first exposed on Channel 12 News. Tzur said the fake message, which appeared as a smear campaign against him, was supposedly sent in his name and included harsh wording against reserve Major General Nimrod Shefer. According to him, he immediately realized someone was trying to pin a despicable thing on him, and decided to crack the source. After an independent investigation, he discovered that Shefer's spokesman was behind the messages. Tzur made clear he does not believe Shefer's apology, who claimed the message came from his team but was meant to appear as an attack against him. In addition, Tzur harshly criticized Democratic Party chairman Yair Golan, who he said did not back him during the affair and even rushed to support Shefer. Tzur called the conduct 'ugly' and said he realized it was a 'sick house' where he did not wish to remain. The affair led to the removal of Tzur's candidacy in the Democratic Party primaries.
