Bank Leumi has announced the launch of a new service that will for the first time allow customers of an Israeli bank to trade cryptocurrencies directly through banking infrastructure. The bank has signed a cooperation agreement with Galaxy Digital and Galaxy Custody, formerly known as GK8. Under the agreement, Leumi and PEPPER customers will be able to buy, hold, and sell selected digital assets, including Bitcoin, Ether, and Solana. Trading will take place in a separate, secure section of the Leumi Trade app, designed for capital market operations. The service is expected to launch in early 2027. Its provision to customers will depend on obtaining the appropriate permission from the Bank of Israel. Galaxy Digital Inc., whose shares are traded on the US stock exchange NASDAQ, operates in the field of digital assets and data center infrastructure. The head of Bank Leumi's strategic direction, Maya Rabia, stated that the bank is constantly working to expand the range of advanced financial services, and this step is an important part of the bank's innovation strategy. The CEO of Galaxy Israel and Galaxy Custody, Lior Lamesh, noted that the future of the financial world will be based on open and programmable infrastructures, and Leumi has become the first bank in Israel to provide its customers with access to digital assets.
