As a result, the Secret Service and the US military carried out an unusual deception operation: Trump boarded the old presidential plane in front of the cameras, but was then secretly removed from it inside a catering vehicle container. The president was transferred to a smaller military plane, a C-32A, which took off for Britain under a routine call sign. However, surprisingly, that same existential and immediate threat did not prevent them from sending the presidential plane into the sky as planned, with senior government officials, civil servants, journalists, and military personnel on board. All of these effectively served as a flying decoy, and some did so without being aware of it at all. The journalists sitting in the back of the plane were instructed to keep the window shades closed during the flight to Britain. Meanwhile, Trump landed in Britain secretly using another military plane, and was smuggled back onto Air Force One so he could disembark in front of the cameras. President Trump himself dismissed the claims, saying he acted on the advice of the Secret Service, and claimed that the plane he actually flew on was at higher risk. This claim stands in complete contradiction to the logic behind the plane swap in the first place.
