Return the Money — Bituah Leumi Exposed a Cunning Compensation Scheme

Bituah Leumi uncovered fraud in compensation payments for the events of October 7. Three residents of Tira illegally received payments by posing as victims. Two managed to receive about 150,000 shekels, while the third was denied. The prosecution filed an indictment with the Kfar Saba Magistrate's Court.

Bituah Leumi (Israel's National Insurance Institute) uncovered possible fraud in compensation payments to victims of the October 7, 2023 events. Three residents of the city of Tira came under investigation. According to law enforcement, the brothers illegally received compensation by posing as victims: they claimed that during the terrorist attack they were in Sderot and experienced severe events. However, Bituah Leumi's investigation showed that at the time of the attack, the men were presumably at their home in Tira. After suspicions arose, the materials were transferred to the police fraud unit. The investigation claims that two of the accused managed to receive about 150,000 shekels in grants and compensation. The third brother also tried to apply for payments, but his application was rejected after verification. All three are required to return the illegally obtained funds. The Central District Prosecutor's Office filed an indictment with the Kfar Saba Magistrate's Court on charges of fraudulently obtaining state payments and attempting to illegally obtain them. A court hearing is expected soon.
