According to a CNN report, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Dan Caine, made clear to associates of President Trump that the US must find an exit path from the war with Iran. Caine argued that airstrikes alone or military escalation would not achieve the goals set by Trump. According to three sources who spoke with CNN, Caine discussed this with CIA Director John Ratcliffe, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Vice President JD Vance, in order to coordinate positions before meetings with Trump. Trump has shown reluctance to send ground forces to Iran, preferring airstrikes, but Caine and other senior officials view this scenario as unrealistic and are working to develop alternatives. In response, Caine's spokesman, Joseph Holstead, said they do not discuss confidential conversations. A White House official praised Caine's contribution, citing the success of operations 'Epic Fury', 'Midnight Hammer', and 'Decisive Victory'. The State Department and CIA declined to comment.
