According to a Wall Street Journal report based on Israeli intelligence assessments, Iran moved thousands of centrifuges to the deep tunnels last fall, following the 12-day war. Experts assess the facility is hard to destroy even with bunker-buster bombs. Additional targets include Taleghan 2 in Parchin, the Fordow facility buried under 300 feet of earth, the research complex in Isfahan, and other sites in Natanz. The strike aims to block the survival paths of the Iranian nuclear program, which suffered heavy blows in Operation "With a Lion" in June 2025 but began secretly rebuilding capabilities.
