A source in Pakistan's Foreign Ministry told Arab media on Monday that Pakistan has recently become the main communication channel between Washington and Tehran, conveying secret messages and proposals between the two sides. According to the source, the contacts are conducted through Pakistani channels and are not limited to political messages, but include proposals related to security and technical files, navigation arrangements in the Strait of Hormuz, mechanisms to reduce escalation, and a return to the discussions set in the memorandum of understanding in June. The Pakistani side conveyed American proposals to senior Iranian officials, and the Iranian responses were passed to Washington. The diplomat added that Pakistan's military and intelligence bodies have direct communication channels with the US and Iran, enabling the transfer of sensitive messages. Pakistan's main goal is to prevent the previous understandings from collapsing and to bring Washington and Tehran back to the agreed track, rather than allowing the crisis to escalate, especially given the continued tensions in the Strait of Hormuz. Pakistan does not seek to impose a political formula on either side, but to create conditions for renewing dialogue. The Pakistani diplomat warned that continued war or renewed confrontation would have consequences beyond the US and Iran, particularly regarding energy security, international trade, and stability in the Gulf and Middle East region.
