A report in the British newspaper The Telegraph reveals that Iranian hackers managed to shut down a power station in Britain for four days. According to the report, this is the first time that elements linked to the Tehran regime have caused the shutdown of a British energy facility. However, officials said the site was small and did not affect the national electricity supply. The attack occurred alongside a series of cyberattacks against water infrastructure in the United States last month, affecting 12 states. The British government briefed energy company CEOs and sent guidelines to businesses. The incident was reported to the UK's National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC). According to assessments, the attack's goal was to prove the ability to penetrate British systems, rather than cause actual harm to civilians. The report notes that Iran has increased its cyber activity against Western countries since the escalation in the Middle East, particularly since US and Israeli airstrikes in February.
