Civil defense teams in Gaza have retrieved the remains of 99 martyrs from under the rubble of two homes belonging to the Abu Sharia and Al-Hasaina families in the Sabra neighborhood, south of Gaza City, following Israeli airstrikes in June 2025 and October 2023. Search operations have been ongoing for 10 days amid major challenges.

On Monday, July 27, 2026, civil defense teams in the Gaza Strip retrieved the remains of 99 martyrs from under the rubble of two homes belonging to the Abu Sharia and Al-Hasaina families in the Sabra neighborhood, south of Gaza City. The civil defense stated that the area was subjected to a "ring of fire" by Israeli occupation aircraft through various aerial sorties, most notably a series of airstrikes on June 7, 2025, and others during October 2023, resulting in dozens of martyrs and leaving many under the rubble. It added that search and retrieval operations have been ongoing for 10 days and face major challenges due to widespread destruction and lack of resources, noting that thousands of martyrs remain missing under the rubble across various areas of Gaza. The number of missing under the rubble is estimated at about eight thousand martyrs, according to official data.
