Reichman University Wins Ministry of Defense Shield for 2026

Reichman University has been selected to receive the Minister of Defense Shield for 2026, an award honoring employers and institutions that support reserve soldiers. The selection was made following recommendations from reserve soldiers and their spouses. The committee, headed by Eyal Haim, chose 22 winners out of more than 1,000 recommendations.

Reichman University has been selected to receive the Minister of Defense Shield for 2026, an award honoring employers, higher education institutions, and local authorities that act significantly on behalf of reserve soldiers and their families. The selection was made following recommendations submitted by reserve soldiers who study and work at the university, as well as their spouses. In a letter to the university's president, Prof. Boaz Ganor, it was stated that the nomination was submitted by the individuals themselves, who described in their own words why the university deserves the award. The award committee, headed by Eyal Haim, head of the Department of Veterans and Reservists, convened on July 16, 2026, and selected 22 winners out of more than 1,000 recommendations, with 99 entities reaching the final stage. The committee included representatives from the IDF, the Ministry of Defense, the Council for Higher Education, the Ministry of Labor, the National Insurance Institute, local government, the business sector, and the Histadrut. The Ministry of Defense thanked the university for its support of reserve soldiers and noted that the win belongs to the people who wrote about it. The university won due to an orderly policy that includes a supportive work and study environment, flexibility, welfare initiatives, recognition, and support during extended service periods.
