Registration for 2026 Legislative Elections Begins, Excluding Jerusalem and Gaza for Now

The Palestinian Central Elections Commission announced on Saturday the start of the field registration phase for voters in the West Bank governorates for the 2026 legislative elections, which will continue until August 19, through 467 registration centers distributed across local authorities and camps. The Commission clarified that registration is currently not required for residents of Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip, affirming that their right to participate is preserved and that mechanisms for their participation will be announced later. It called on unregistered citizens to take the initiative to register electronically or through the centers. For Jerusalemites residing in the West Bank, they can register at the nearest electoral district office. The Commission also called on those registered with a foreign passport before 2021 to update their data.
