Red Sea on Fire Again: Three Killed in Attack Attributed to Houthis

Three crew members were killed in an attack attributed to the Houthis against a commercial vessel in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. According to a report by Al-Jomhoria channel, two of the dead are Pakistani citizens and another crew member is an Indonesian citizen. At this stage, details are preliminary, and the ship's name, flag, owner, and extent of damage have not been disclosed. It was also not reported whether additional crew members were harmed in the attack. Meanwhile, the Houthis have expanded their threats to maritime traffic in recent weeks. The organization declared a naval blockade against Saudi Arabia in July and even attacked, according to its claim, Saudi oil tankers in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden. Following the threats, changes in tanker routes in the area have already been recorded, while shipping companies monitor the level of risk in the strait. The latest attack raises concerns about renewed disruption to one of the world's most important trade routes and highlights the escalation in the organization's activity in Yemen.
