Record number of female MKs - and the huge gaps between blocs: This is what the next Knesset is expected to look like

An analysis by ynet, based on an average of polls after the submission of candidate lists, predicts a record 34 women in the 26th Knesset, but with vast gaps between blocs: 46% women in the change bloc compared to just 13% among parties supporting Netanyahu. The analysis also points to security gaps: the change bloc has a former chief of staff, a former Shin Bet chief, and four reserve major generals, compared to zero senior officials of these ranks on the other side. 48 new MKs are expected to enter, most from Gadi Eisenkot's Yashar party.

In the change bloc (Yashar, Together, The Democrats, Yisrael Beitenu) 25 women are expected out of 54 seats (46%), while among parties supporting Netanyahu (Likud, Otzma Yehudit, Religious Zionism, Shas, United Torah Judaism, Amcha Yisrael) only 7 women out of 51 seats (13%). The analysis also points to security gaps: the change bloc has a former chief of staff (Eisenkot), a former Shin Bet chief (Yoram Cohen), and four reserve major generals, compared to zero senior officials of these ranks on the Netanyahu-supporting side. 48 new MKs are expected to enter the Knesset, most from Yashar (18). The analysis details the backgrounds of the new candidates, including former CEOs, local authority heads, bereaved parents, and media figures. Immigrants from the former Soviet Union will lose representation: only three Russian speakers are expected compared to seven in the outgoing Knesset.
