Rams police car, flees officers – caught trying to steal another vehicle

An indictment was filed against a 19-year-old who, according to the charge, tried to steal three vehicles in one day, rammed a police car during a chase, and was finally arrested inside another vehicle he tried to steal. The incident occurred on July 31; a policewoman was injured, the suspect was wounded by gunfire and continued to flee until he was caught.

An indictment was filed today (Sunday) against a 19-year-old who, according to the charge, tried to steal three vehicles in one day, rammed a police car during a chase, and was finally arrested inside another vehicle he tried to steal to continue his escape. The incident occurred on July 31, after police received a report of a vehicle theft near Jerusalem. Officers from the Harel station located the vehicle with the young man driving it. When he noticed the officers, he began to flee in a dangerous manner, and during the chase he rammed a police car. As a result of the collision, a policewoman was injured and taken to the hospital, and heavy damage was caused to the vehicles. After the vehicle he was driving was stopped, the suspect got out and began to flee on foot. During the chase, the officers fired at him to arrest him, and he was wounded. Despite the injury, the young man continued his escape, and forces began searching for him. At the end of the searches, he was found inside another car, and at those moments he was trying to steal it as well. His detention was extended from time to time, and today the police prosecution unit of the Jerusalem district filed an indictment against him.
