Prisoners' institutions warn of deteriorating health of 3 prisoners in 'Ofer'

Prisoners' institutions revealed a serious deterioration in the health conditions of three Palestinian prisoners in Ofer prison, including an elderly man suffering from chronic diseases and effects of assault, and another infected with scabies. They called for urgent intervention to provide medical care and improve detention conditions.

Prisoners' institutions revealed today, Sunday, a serious deterioration in the health and humanitarian conditions of three Palestinian prisoners in 'Ofer' prison. Prisoner Maher Rizq Abd al-Na'san (60 years old), from the village of al-Mughayyir, was arrested on July 6, 2026, at a flying military checkpoint near Ein Sinya. He was severely beaten during his arrest, kept under the sun, and cigarettes were extinguished on his body. He suffers from a herniated disc in the fourth vertebra and was scheduled for surgery, in addition to inflammation in his leg joint and colon problems. He is in the second month of a four-month administrative detention. Prisoner Rafiq Raed Rafiq Qabaj (23 years old), from al-Bireh, suffers from a rapid heartbeat and needs medication, in addition to being infected with scabies, which is widespread in the section. He has been detained since February 12, 2026, under an administrative detention order for four months. Prisoner Ali Abd Eid Barghouti, from Beit Rima, reported difficulty changing and washing clothes due to a lack of cleaning materials, which contributes to the spread of scabies. Prisoners are subjected to suppression, room raids, confiscation of belongings, and prevention from performing group prayers. The institutions called for urgent intervention to provide medical care and stop assaults and medical negligence.
