Prisoners' Club: Ben Gvir exploits female prisoners' suffering for incitement and propaganda

The Palestinian Prisoners' Club condemned on Wednesday the raid by Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, accompanied by family members, on the women's section of Damon Prison, calling it a political stunt that exploits the suffering of female prisoners for incitement and propaganda. The club said Ben Gvir entered two cells, filmed the visit, and published a recording containing threats against the women. The prisoners reported that the raid was followed by an escalation in punitive measures, including a three-day confiscation of personal belongings, denial of showers and yard time, handcuffing of hands behind their backs, blindfolding, and filming of the abuses. The Prisoners' Club warned of a worsening scabies outbreak in Damon and Ofer prisons, holding the Israeli prison administration responsible for medical neglect. It also noted the deteriorating health of child prisoner Muhammad Hamid, whose foot was amputated due to the disease. Israeli authorities are holding 88 female Palestinian prisoners in Damon Prison under harsh humanitarian and health conditions. The club called for urgent international intervention to protect the prisoners.
