Prisoners Authority: Female Prisoners in 'Damon' Face Ongoing Violations and Harsh Detention Conditions
The Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs said that female prisoners in Damon prison are subjected to ongoing violations by the prison administration. The lawyer quoted prisoner Amna Sweilem (55) from Nablus, detained since 3/11/2025, suffering from shoulder pain, thyroid problems, and abdominal muscle hernia. She also quoted prisoner Laila Khalil (22) from Beitunia, detained since 2/6/2026, saying prison conditions are very bad, food is poor, and yard time does not exceed one hour daily.
The Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs said on Sunday that female prisoners in Damon prison are subjected to ongoing violations by the prison administration. In a press statement, the Commission reported that the lawyer quoted prisoner Amna Sweilem (55) from Nablus, detained since 3/11/2025, saying that detention conditions in the prison are harsh and very difficult. It added that Sweilem suffers from shoulder pain due to a tendon tear, in addition to thyroid problems and abdominal muscle hernia. The lawyer also quoted prisoner Laila Khalil (22) from Beitunia, west of Ramallah, detained since 2/6/2026, who is in the isolation section, saying that prison conditions are "very bad," and that food, in terms of quality and quantity, is poor, while yard time does not exceed one hour daily, and large numbers of female prisoners cannot shower due to time constraints. The report relies on the testimonies of only two prisoners, without comment from the prison administration or an Israeli source.
