The Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners Affairs Authority released a report on Sunday revealing a sharp deterioration in the conditions of prisoners in Janot Prison. The report, based on testimonies from the authority's lawyers and prisoners, documents medical neglect, starvation, repression, and repeated raids. Among the documented cases is prisoner Osama Fathallah al-Shani, detained since November 2024, who lost 35 kg and suffers from a herniated disc without painkillers. Prisoner Qassam Shibli, detained since 2019, reported a raid by Metsada and Yamaz units on September 4, resulting in injuries to two prisoners. Prisoner Fadi Abu al-Rub, detained since March 2026, lost 15 kg under a starvation policy. The authority also documented the case of prisoner Ashraf al-Zaghari, detained since 2022, who has shrapnel in his body and an ear injury without treatment. Prisoner Ahmad Bledi, administratively detained since February 2025, suffers from scabies without treatment. The authority emphasizes that the suffering extends to deprivation of treatment, food, clothing, and basic necessities.
