A 54-year-old driver from Tayibe was arrested on Highway 60 in the north, after a check by national traffic police officers revealed that he was driving while disqualified – for the seventh time. The driver was stopped for a routine check as part of targeted enforcement activity by the Emekim traffic unit. During the check, it became clear that he was knowingly driving while under a disqualification imposed by the court. It also emerged that the vehicle he was driving was under a use prohibition, after safety defects were found in it. The driver was transferred for questioning by traffic investigators, and at its conclusion he was arrested and imprisoned. In a hearing on extending his detention, the court accepted the police's position and ordered his detention until the end of proceedings. Police argued that this is a driver who repeatedly violates judicial decisions and poses a real danger to road users. The vehicle he was driving was immobilized at the scene. The activity was carried out as part of the 'Committed to Life' operation by the Traffic Division and the National Road Safety Authority, which includes reinforcement of traffic patrols on the country's roads.
