A 19-year-old was attacked early Sunday morning by a group of 20 to 30 youths on the Eilat promenade after he refused to give a cigarette to a boy of about 15. He was beaten all over his body and taken by ambulance to Yoseftal Hospital. His family filed a police complaint, and the young man identified one of those involved. His mother, Yael, said her son was on vacation in Eilat before his IDF enlistment, and the incident occurred around 5:00 AM. Police reported that six minor suspects were arrested, brought before the Eilat Magistrate's Court, and released under restrictive conditions, including house arrest. Another hearing was set for the next day. The mother expressed concern that security camera footage might be deleted and called not to normalize such incidents.
