Outrage in the North: Israeli Flags Vandalized Near Grave of Soldier Killed on October 7

Unknown individuals tore and defaced Israeli flags placed beside the grave of Staff Sgt. Regev Amar, a soldier killed in battle at Kibbutz Kissufim on October 7, near Kibbutz Sde Nehemia. His mother wrote in a post that this is the second time this week the flags have been vandalized. The family and residents also complain about litter and lack of restrooms at the site.

A disturbing incident occurred in the Hermon Stream area, near Kibbutz Sde Nehemia, when unknown individuals tore and defaced Israeli flags placed beside the grave of Staff Sgt. Regev Amar, a soldier killed in battle at Kibbutz Kissufim on October 7. This was reported today (Tuesday) to Walla. Regev's mother, Gilanit Amar, wrote in a social media post that this is "the second time this week that Haredim vandalize an Israeli flag on Regev's grave, Regev who fought on October 7 for all the people of Israel, regardless of religion, race, or gender. Regevi, I'm sorry." Regev was buried in the cemetery at Sde Nehemia, as close as possible to the stream he loved. His mother said with pain that it is hard to discover that Israeli flags were defaced beside the grave of an IDF fallen soldier who gave his life for the country. According to her, the family chose to bury him near the stream, his favorite place. The cemetery is located next to a path used by pedestrians and cyclists, and at this time of year many hikers pass through the area. Family members and residents in the area say that in addition to the repeated damage to the flags, hikers leave litter in nature and even relieve themselves among the bushes near the cemetery, due to the lack of available restrooms. Regev Amar, 20 at the time of his fall, served as a squad commander in Battalion 101 of the Paratroopers Brigade and went to a squad commanders course at Bislmah. He dreamed of becoming an officer, educating soldiers, and later studying medicine and specializing in trauma. On the morning of October 7, with the start of the Hamas attack, his company was called up to the Gaza envelope. On their way, the soldiers fought with terrorist squads, saved a young woman from a kidnapping attempt, and continued to the containment battle at Kibbutz Kissufim, where Regev charged at the head of the force. During the battle, Regev was hit by three bullets in his lower body and lost feeling in his legs. Despite his severe injury and massive bleeding, he continued to manage the fighting with composure. When his comrades asked to approach him and evacuate him, he ordered them not to do so to avoid risking their lives and said: "If you come near me, you will die, stay in place." After one of his comrades said the Shema Yisrael prayer with him, a grenade was thrown at him and his voice fell silent. After his fall, he was promoted to Staff Sergeant. He left behind parents and two sisters. His family decided to commemorate him by establishing "Regev's Way" in Sde Nehemia, a branch of the Upper Galilee pre-military preparatory program, which will operate in line with his values: love of the land, protection of nature, love of humanity, and community volunteering.
