Outposts established immediately after the attack: 'They profit from every disaster'

A week after the attack in which Binyahu Melet and Maj. Yuval Ezra were killed, six new illegal outposts were established in Judea and Samaria, one of them in Area B. The settlers, led by Itai Zar and David Cohen, explain that they 'profit from every disaster' and that everything is done in coordination and with approval. They oppose defining nationalist crime as terrorism and warn of 'the next October 7' if they do not hold the land.

A week after the deadly attack in which emergency squad member Binyahu Melet and Maj. Yuval Ezra were killed, settlers established six new illegal outposts in the area of Havat Gilad and the village of Tel. Five are in Area C and one in Area B, at the site of the attack. The move began after the fire in Havat Gilad that consumed about 30 homes and businesses, and was accelerated following the attack. Itai Zar, whose brother Gilad was killed about 20 years ago, said: 'We take every disaster and profit from it.' David Cohen established an outpost named 'Boneh Kfaror' opposite Havat Gilad, at an archaeological site in Area C. The residents oppose defining nationalist crime as terrorism, and Zar compared its perpetrators to Meir Har Zion. Cohen said that 'after the attack, Tel should have been erased' and that 'when the army doesn't do its job, there is a vacuum.' They are not afraid of international reaction and note that 'the distance from Netanya to Samaria is 15 kilometers.' An IDF spokesman said that the evacuation of outposts is carried out according to the situation assessment. Today, two trips are planned in the area, despite the IDF's warning against entering Area A.
