He received 121 months (just over 10 years) in prison for the armed robbery of an i3Bank branch on February 10. The perpetrator burst into the bank without a mask, pointed a gun at the tellers, and stole over $9,000. However, he left a trail of evidence: surveillance cameras captured his face and bright red Nike flip-flops, and private home cameras recorded the license plates of his rusty pickup truck with a tool box. Immediately after the robbery, Lewis-Payne went to Westroads Mall, where he paid with stolen money for new shoes and clothes, again appearing on camera. When police attempted to arrest him, he fled, dropping some money on the street. Police found his abandoned car, most of the stolen amount, and the same clothing. During interrogation, it was revealed that he used ChatGPT to prepare for the crime: the artificial intelligence helped him calculate police response times, instructed him on how to disassemble and repair a Llama Mini-Max .45 pistol, and suggested where to obtain ammunition despite his criminal record. The court sentenced him to 37 months for the robbery and 84 months for threatening bank employees. In the US federal system, there is no parole, so the criminal will spend the next ten years behind bars.
