Montenegro's parliament unanimously approved amendments to the Health Insurance Law, granting women diagnosed with secondary dysmenorrhea the right to two paid days off per month. The benefit applies to cases of endometriosis, uterine fibroids, endometrial polyps, ovarian inflammation, and polycystic ovary syndrome. The presence of these conditions must be confirmed by an official opinion from a specialist physician, which must be updated annually and submitted to the enterprise's management. The initiative's authors believe the innovation will help combine therapy with a career and reduce discrimination against women in the workplace. The Women's Rights Protection Center called the adopted regulation a historic breakthrough, noting the state's role in recognizing the needs of the female body. Experts emphasize the need to monitor the implementation of the new norms. Financial compensation for missed shifts is at least seventy percent of the standard salary, but commercial organizations may set higher payments. The current version of the law does not specify mechanisms for strict control and prevention of abuse.
