34 pistols and two M-16 rifles were seized early this morning near the Jordan border, in a joint operation by officers of the Jordan Border Unit of the Judea and Samaria District Police, fighters of the Border Police of Judea and Samaria, and fighters of the Bekaa and Valleys Brigade. Two suspects, residents of Jericho in their 50s, were arrested at the scene. According to police, forces identified findings indicating activity towards smuggling weapons in the border area. Following this, ambushes were set up, using special technological means, leading to the arrest of the suspects and the seizure of the weapons. The two were transferred for investigation at the Central Unit of the Judea and Samaria District. Police stated that the operation is taking place alongside the fight against smuggling attempts on the eastern border, and as part of preparations for the holiday period.
