On the way to Ben Gvir? May Golan attacks after the defeat: "PM's people decided I'm 'too right-wing'"
Minister May Golan attacked after her defeat in the Likud primaries, where she landed in the unrealistic 23rd place, and said that "PM's people decided I'm 'too right-wing'." She hinted at a possible move to Itamar Ben Gvir's "Otzma Yehudit" party, with whom she worked in close cooperation. This comes amid the investigation against her in the "Med Gova" affair.
Minister for Social Equality and Advancement of the Status of Women, May Golan, today (Tuesday) thanked Likud members who voted for her, while sharply attacking what she called "the false spins, hit lists, and 'briefings on behalf of the PM'," which she said "did not want a right-wing and opinionated woman in the party." Golan finished in 23rd place on the national list, a position considered unrealistic, and will not be among the first 39 MKs. Following this, she may move to the "Otzma Yehudit" party led by National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, with whom she has warm relations and close cooperation throughout the term. Among other things, she faced harsh criticism after redirecting to him a budget intended for a five-year plan for the Arab society. An investigation was opened against Golan (the "Med Gova" affair) on suspicion of involvement of her office workers in obtaining something by fraud, use of public funds for private needs, and fictitious employment. She was summoned for questioning under warning but did not appear. Just last month, a 13-month prison sentence was imposed on the husband of her advisor, Adi Hodfi-Biton, after a drug lab was found in his home.
