On the Egyptian Border – IDF Intercepts Giant Drone
The IDF intercepted a large drone near the Egyptian border carrying 21 M16 rifles, presumably intended for Hamas. In parallel, police conducted a raid in the Negev, seizing weapons and arresting a suspect.
On the night between Wednesday and Thursday, Israeli military forces intercepted a large drone crossing the border from Egypt. The drone was grounded by soldiers of the regional 'Paran' brigade. Upon inspection of the cargo, an arsenal of 21 M16 rifles was discovered. According to security services, the weapons were likely intended for Hamas militants in the Gaza Strip. The seized shipment was handed over to the police for investigation. Experts note an increase in attempts to smuggle weapons using drones in recent years. In parallel, police conducted a raid in the settlement of Arara in the Negev, seizing a 'Carlo' submachine gun, homemade firearms, two boxes of 9mm ammunition, and an extended magazine. A 20-year-old local resident was arrested. Deputy police station chief Baruch Honig stated that the seizure of weapons reduces the level of threat.
