Old list. Bad news
Ben-Dror Yemini argues that the Likud list for the Knesset brings no innovation, and that the same government ministers who, in his view, failed on October 7 and in the years since have been re-elected to realistic slots. He criticizes Netanyahu for his satisfaction with the results, and asserts that the lack of soul-searching in Likud strengthens Itamar Ben Gvir, who, he says, poses an existential danger to Israel.
Ben-Dror Yemini argues that the results of the Likud primaries are bad news. According to him, the list brings no innovation: the same government ministers who were responsible for policy in recent years, and who, in his view, failed in the October 7 massacre, the diplomatic low, the transfer of funds to draft dodgers, and the judicial crisis, were re-elected to the top twenty slots. Yemini attacks Netanyahu for his satisfaction with the results, and asserts that none of those elected are willing to say 'we were wrong' and engage in soul-searching. According to him, the lack of a new leader in Likud, and the fact that Eli Cohen, Amir Ohana, Yariv Levin, and Miri Regev are not competing to replace Netanyahu, leaves the right without a serious alternative. The main beneficiary of this, he says, is Itamar Ben Gvir, whose strengthening is an existential danger to Israel. Yemini asserts that Israel needs a serious right-wing party with a new strategy, and that without it, the country will march from collapse to ruin.
