Occupation launches widespread raids and arrests in the West Bank
At dawn on Monday, Israeli occupation forces launched a widespread campaign of raids and arrests across the West Bank, including Nablus, Ramallah, Hebron, Jenin, and Bethlehem. Eleven citizens were arrested in Nablus, five in Ramallah, and two in Hebron, with military checkpoints set up. The raid on Qabatiya continues. Data indicates over 916 checkpoints and gates in the West Bank.
At dawn on Monday, August 17, 2026, Israeli occupation forces launched a widespread campaign of raids and incursions in cities and towns across the occupied West Bank, accompanied by arrests, detention of citizens, house searches, and the erection of military checkpoints. In Nablus governorate, forces arrested 11 citizens from the towns of Beit Imrin and Kafr Qallil, including nine from the Hassoun family in Beit Imrin: Thamer Munjed Majed Hassoun, Mahmoud Thamer Munjed Majed Hassoun, Fares Thamer Munjed Majed Hassoun, Akram Munjed Majed Hassoun, Yousef Akram Munjed Majed Hassoun, Wahbi Akram Munjed Majed Hassoun, Zakaria Munjed Majed Hassoun, Naeem Karim Abdo, and Asaad Riyad Hassoun. They also arrested Muhammad al-Rayan and Muhammad al-Jarmi from Kafr Qallil. In Ramallah and al-Bireh governorate, five citizens were arrested from the town of al-Mughayyir, northeast of Ramallah: Suhaib Ismail Abu Alia, Anwar al-Bisi Abu Alia, Hamad Wahib Abu Alia, Yaqub Iyad Abu Alia, and Mu'taz Ataf Abu Alia. The forces set up two military checkpoints at the entrances to the villages of Aboud and Nabi Salih, causing a traffic jam. According to the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, the number of military checkpoints and gates in the West Bank exceeds 916, including 243 erected after October 7, 2023. In Jenin, forces continue their raid on Qabatiya town and arrested a number of young men whose identities are unknown. In Hebron, two citizens were arrested: Abdullah Ashraf al-Junaidi and Zaid Ayesh Zain, and houses were raided in Beit Ummar. In Bethlehem, the towns of al-Shawawra and Za'tara were raided without arrests.
