Occupation forces penetrate Al-Rafid in Quneitra

The Syrian Al-Ikhbariya channel reported that Israeli occupation forces penetrated the town of Al-Rafid in the Quneitra countryside, southern Syria, at dawn on Sunday, carrying out raids and searches of a number of homes. This comes within ongoing Israeli military movements in southern Syria, including the establishment of checkpoints and military posts, in violation of Syrian sovereignty. Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa condemned the violations, calling for the withdrawal of Israeli forces. Reports also indicated that about 80% of the trench digging within the "New East" project along the buffer zone has been completed, with the 474th Brigade controlling a security strip comprising nine checkpoints.

The Syrian Al-Ikhbariya channel reported that Israeli occupation forces penetrated the town of Al-Rafid in the Quneitra countryside, southern Syria, at dawn on Sunday, carrying out raids and searches that included a number of homes. This penetration comes amid continued Israeli military movements in southern Syria, which include raids, searches, and the establishment of checkpoints and military posts, in a continuous violation of Syrian sovereignty. Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa had condemned the Israeli violations, calling for the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the territories it occupied in the south of the country. Concurrently, reports indicated that the Israeli occupation army has completed about 80% of the trench digging works within the "New East" project, extending along the buffer zone from Majdal Shams to the Yarmouk Basin in the Daraa countryside, aimed at fortifying the Israeli-Syrian border with trenches and earthen embankments. According to the same data, the 474th Brigade of the occupation army controls a security strip inside the zone, comprising about nine company-sized checkpoints, along with patrolling villages and open areas, especially in the southern Golan sector. Israeli movements in southern Syria escalated following the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad's regime in December 2024, and Israel's declaration of the collapse of the 1974 Disengagement Agreement, and its control of the buffer zone.
